The Romantics

by Reuters

Despite gathering storm clouds before the ceremony, literally and figuratively, this is a pretty light genre film with the occasional juicy confrontation to spice up the party. Theatrically, “Romantics” will be embraced by the over-25 set primarily, though wedding movies seem to play across many age groups. Box office potential appears to be modest.

The tone is a little more subtle than (500) Days of Summer, but you could imagine them as a double feature. If The Romantics found its way to the right studio, it could make a great date movie. Teenagers may be bored by it, but those who are a little older, perhaps ready to take the next step in a relationship, will find a lot to like.

Anna Paquin drinks Kombucha True Blood star Anna Paquin was spotted sipping a Synergy drink on her way to a meeting in Venice, CA. Can this drink replace the get-up-and-go effects of a cup of joe?

Synergy beverages are made with mostly raw organic kombucha and five percent real fruit juice. Sometimes referred to as a tea, kombucha is not brewed from mushrooms; it’s a colony of bacteria and yeast, which is added to tea or, in this case, fruit juice and allowed to ferment. Kombucha has been used for centuries throughout the world as a health tonic since it contain beneficial probiotics, enzymes, and antioxidants. According to Mayo Clinic, “health benefits attributed to Kombucha tea include stimulating the immune system, preventing cancer, and improving digestion and liver function.” The thing is, though, there isn’t any scientific data performed on humans to back this up, but that also doesn’t mean it won’t benefit the body.

So while kombucha won’t necessarily “restore and rejuvenate” Anna’s body, I guess it’s worth a try. Tell me, do you drink kombucha for health benefits?

Anna Paquin tried on 100 dresses Anna Paquin tried on 100 dresses before settling on her Golden Globes gown.

The True Blood actress was so determined to find the perfect frock for Sunday’s prestigious award show, she climbed into dozens of designs before settling on a glamorous Stella McCartney gown.

She said: “I tried on about a 100. I’m probably exaggerating.”

The 27-year-old beauty also had a battle choosing her accessories, before deciding on vintage Stephen Russell jewellery and a handbag designed by British designer Alexander McQueen.

Anna took preparations for the glitzy showbiz event so seriously, her fiance Stephen Moyer was banished to the other side of the house while the actress’ “team” got her ready.

He revealed to Us Weekly magazine: “I’m very good at leaving madam alone when it comes to these things. The team is working, and I’m upstairs by myself.”

Although they work together on the vampire series, the couple loved attending the ceremony together because they don’t spend much time together on a day-to-day basis.

Stephen, 40, added: “It is rare because at the moment, a lot of the stuff that we are doing is not together on the show. So in that respect, yes, we kind of have to introduce ourselves to each other once every week.”

This is not news or even new, but is the movie that made Anna famous, so I thought this article deserve a place here ;)
By Christopher Goodwin:

Jane Campion The only female director to receive a top prize at Cannes, Campion’s classic ‘The Piano’ is a truly breathtaking film
There’s a striking photograph taken at the Cannes film festival in 2007. It shows 35 of the world’s leading directors, almost all in black suits and bow ties, standing on a podium. In their midst, if you look closely, you can see just one woman: Jane Campion, her greying blonde hair a sobering contrast, a white horse on a dark male sea. Campion, now 55, was among cinema’s auteur elite because her 1993 film, The Piano, was the first directed by a woman ever to win the coveted Palme d’Or (although it shared the prize with the Chinese film Farewell My Concubine, directed by Chen Kaige). Holly Hunter, playing Ada, the film’s mute heroine, who finds expression and identity through the piano she plays, took the best actress award.

Nine months later, Campion received a best director Oscar nomination for the film, becoming only the second woman ever put up for cinema’s ultimate prize. She didn’t win. In fact, no woman has ever won the best director Oscar — although Campion’s latest, Bright Star, a tender study of the doomed but enduring love between the poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne, is in the frame for nominations this year. It was at least some consolation that The Piano, which received eight nominations in all, including best picture, won three Oscars: best actress for Hunter, best supporting actress for Anna Paquin (who was just 11 when she appeared in the film) and best screenplay for Campion. The film was an international box-office hit, taking more than $100m worldwide.

Another funny article about Anna getting her driver’s licence. By Stuff:

Anna Paquin was more excited about passing her driving test than being nominated for a Golden Globe award.

The True Blood star – who is up for the Best Actress in a Television Drama honour – admits she’s thrilled to be acknowledged for her work but is happier that she now has the freedom to drive herself about.

She said: “I’m oddly more excited about the driver’s licence. I’m totally the two-handed driver, and I’m not very good at parallel parking.”

The awards take place on Sunday but Anna admits she doesn’t get too excited about attending glittering ceremonies.

Anna – who won the same award at last year’s show and was also the recipient of the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress when she was just 11 – said: “It’s probably not any different than any other day.”

Anna recently admitted audiences find it “weird” when she gets nude on screen because she first found fame as an actress when she was still a child.

The 27-year-old star said: “It’s been a gradual evolution for me. It’s probably weird for people to watch it and if they have this image of me as a sweet little child, but it’s not weird for me.”

by Bombshell Bride

Anna Paquin’s longtime trainer Clay Burwell gave Bombshell Bride a six-exercise sequence to help you look and feel your best.

True Blood’s Golden Globe nominee Anna Paquin (who just happens to be a fellow bride-to-be) is widely quoted as extolling the virtues of a healthy lifestyle. She’s a fan of a variety of workouts, including pilates. And that’s a good thing, since her body is spotlighted in those short shorts (or even less) on the widely successful True Blood. But don’t let her girly figure fool you. “She’s a damn good boxer and a gifted athlete,” says Paquin’s longtime trainer Clay Burwell, co-owner of NYC gym High Performance. “Her endurance is some of the best I have ever seen.”

Paquin (along with Matt Damon and other celebrities) has equally good things to say about Burwell. “Training with Clay will get you in the best shape of your life.”

To help all of us get in the best shape of our lives, Bombshell Bride consulted Burwell for some moves that might help our bodies look, well, a bit more Anna Paquin-like. Burwell gave us a sequence that capitalizes on what he calls “pre-exhaustion,” which fatigues a target area (like the glutes) with multiple movements for maximum benefit. (Note: To be realistic, there’s a whole lot more working out than what we’re giving you here, so think of this as a piece of your fitness plan.)

It’s a very long article with interesting pictures. Visit the source for more.

Here is a funny thing about Anna’s character in True Blood, by Marissa Gold:

Andrea False Eyelashes
For the “True Blood” fans among us (I’m a diehard!), you’ll be interested to know that Anna Paquin’s character, Sookie Stackhouse, wears Andrea Lashes style #53 on the show. If they attract vampires as hot as Alexander Skarsgård and Stephen Moyer’s characters, we’ll be the first in line to buy a pair!

Up all night with Anna Paquin and her alter ego, True Blood’s Sookie Stackhouse.

Anna Paquin has an Oscar, a cool accent, and maybe the best role on television – bombshell mind reader Sookie Stackhouse on True Blood. We sat down with her, Stephen Moyer (aka Vampire Bill) and their Maker, HBO producing legend Alan Ball, to discuss their bloody TV phenomenon.

Anna Paquin, on her Nude Scenes:
“I don’t think a naked body is particularly shocking or interesting… It’s not the culture I was raised in. I was not brought up in the United States. I don’t share the [attitude] that you can have graphic violence, but – God forbid – you see someone’s nipples.”

On Going Blonde for Sookie:
“I don’t look like a Barbie doll, and probably never will. People are incredibly literal in how they view you. You have dark hair and pale skin? You must be brooding. The second you dye your hair blonde and get a spray tan, people treat you as if you’re a bit stupider and happier. Suddenly, it’s like you’re hot and sexy.”

On TV Acting:
“It never occurred to me that one form of acting was better than another. I think if you approach your career like that you’re limiting yourself to a very boring path. For me, it’s about the material.”

Epilogue: Stephen Moyer, on Vampire Sex:
“The thing about vampirism is that it taps into a female point of view – you have an old-fashioned gentleman with manners who is a fucking killer… it’s an interesting duality, because in our present society it would be an odd thing for a woman to say, ‘I want my man to be physical with me.’ How, as a modern man, can you fucking work that? It’s one thing to be polite and gentle… But when do you know it’s OK to crawl out of the mud and rape her [as Bill does in one scene]?… It’s difficult stuff for a bloke, but a vampire gets away with it…. I think that’s the attraction of the show – it’s looking back at a romantic time when men were men, but they were still charming.” - Interview by Luke Crisell

It’s true love for True Blood couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. The two are engaged to be married, reps for both actors on the HBO vampire series confirm to PEOPLE exclusively.

No further details were available.

Paquin, who plays telepathic Sookie Stackhouse on True Blood, is originally from New Zealand and won a 1994 Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as the precocious child in The Piano.

Moyer, from Essex, England, plays bloodsucking Bill Compton on the series. He also has two children from previous relationships: a son, Billy, born in 2000, and a daughter, Lilac, born in 2002.

Last month, Paquin, 27, said of her nude love scenes with Moyer, 39: “Obviously, if you’re already with that person then you’re not having to sort of get over the ‘Wow, I’m naked with someone that I don’t even know the middle name of!’”

For his part, Moyer has said of his lady love, “My girl is hardcore.”

A couple that boxes together, stays together? At least, according to True Blood’s Stephen Moyer – the brooding Brit who plays Southern vampire Bill Compton and throws punches with costar and real-life love Anna Paquin.

“When I was a boy I loved boxing,” he tells Access DirecTV magazine in its July issue of his off-screen pastime. “And I’ve got Anna into it.”

Of their love for the brutal hobby, Moyer adds, “I like the sport and she likes the blood. I’m like, ‘Stop the fight, people are getting hurt, I can’t bear it!’ and she’s going, ‘Go on, hit ‘em!’ She loves it. She boxes too.”

But can chivalrous vampire Bill beat telepathic cutie Sookie in the ring?
“No way!” he says. “She won’t stop until she’s gnawed your stumps off. I tell you, my girl is hardcore.
